Underground in August: CHIKUCHIKU SHIGOTO, The Sound of Steady Sewing

We are excited to announce our August Underground exhibition, "CHIKUCHIKU SHIGOTO, The Sound of Steady Sewing," featuring the talented Erika Harada and Hiroko Harada. Join us for the opening night on August 2, from 5-8 PM, during the First Friday Bremerton Art Walk.

Erika Harada

Erika Harada, a textile artist based in Bremerton, WA, works primarily with katazome, a traditional rice paste-based resist dye method. As a 1.5 generation Japanese-American, Erika draws inspiration from her deep roots in both the US and Japan, as well as the unique natural beauty of the Pacific Northwest. She is pleased to be exhibiting her work alongside her mother for this show.

Hiroko Harada

Hiroko Harada's love for fabrics began at an early age, influenced by her mother, a professional seamstress. Over the years, she has explored various crafts, including patchwork quilting. Living far from her homeland, Hiroko has been increasingly drawn to the intricacy and skill of traditional Japanese handicraft artisans.

Join us in August at the Underground Gallery at CVG to experience the beautiful fusion of traditional Japanese textile art and the natural inspiration of the Pacific Northwest. Don't miss the chance to meet Erika and Hiroko Harada and explore their captivating work.
