Ken Lundemo

July 1931 - 2024

Ken Lundemo, a Washington native, was born on July 9, 1931, and grew up in Tacoma and Bremerton. He held an Associate Degree in Art from Olympic College and was a largely self-taught artist in sculpture, welding, and carving.

Ken's home, studio, and kilns were located on a 20-acre wooded site near Seabeck. He drew inspiration from the natural beauty and diverse countryside of the Puget Sound area, utilizing both native materials and exotic imported wood and stone in his work.

His artistic journey often explored the human figure and wildlife, with a particular focus on the female form. For over fifty years, Ken created numerous drawings and sculptures celebrating this subject. His passion for wood-fired stoneware, porcelain pottery, and sculpture grew after building an anagama kiln, though he also found time for stone and wood carving.

Ken was a founding member of the Collective Visions Gallery in Bremerton in 1994 and took great pride in seeing it become one of the premier galleries in the Northwest.
