Andrew Nuth
multimedia abstract artist
Andrew has spent much of his life admiring the arts and exploring countless mediums before diving into painting a decade ago. Embracing a fearless approach, he accepted that his creations might not meet his ideal vision right away. This led him to experiment boldly—trying new techniques, pushing the boundaries, tearing canvases, bolting on wood, and continually modifying his work. Over time, Andrew transitioned into assemblage and sculpture, where he found immense joy in revealing the hidden beauty within nature and sharing that perspective with others.
Andrew's pieces are born from patience, freedom, and a willingness to take risks. His materials, especially wood, respond to the elements—cracking, expanding, aging over time. He has come to view these cracks not as flaws but as features, often building entire pieces around these natural occurrences. Each piece is considered complete only when he feels confident that it has stabilized and the beauty of its transformation is preserved. Whether raw and unrefined or intricate and polished, his sculptures highlight nature's handiwork, with each scar and imperfection accentuated rather than concealed.
Andrew prefers to sell his pieces in person, sharing the stories of their origins and offering guidance on care. Many pieces, due to their natural elements, benefit from remaining in the Pacific Northwest, avoiding drier climates to maintain their unique integrity. His hope is that each viewer will see the beauty that nature created and he simply completed, appreciating the materials for what they truly are—flawed, enduring, and effortlessly beautiful.
